The summer term at CTC has now drawn to a close and while we are all excited by the stretch of holiday that lies ahead, it has been with great sadness that we’ve said goodbye to the 25 Chinese students from ULink College in Shanghai.
ULink College of Shanghai was one of the first colleges to implement the A Level curriculum in Shanghai, China.
This group of students have now returned home after studying at CTC for a few months as part of our exciting new short-term course provision for young adults from different parts of the world.
Specifically designed for GCSE-aged students, the course incorporates extensive English language development, GCSE-taster sessions and a number of sightseeing trips to offer students the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in our rich British culture and learn about its history while taking their place among an international community on the outskirts of the UK’s capital.
Every ULink student proved to be incredibly hard-working, throwing themselves into the course with great enthusiasm and “can-do” attitudes. Prior to their departure, many commented that they had enjoyed their time in London so much that they were reluctant to go home! We’re delighted that we could provide the platform from which to participate in the British education system and that they’ve returned to Shanghai with improved skills and some great memories. We look forward to them visiting us again in the future.
Principal Dr Chris Drew commented, “The students from ULink will be sadly missed by all at CTC. In their short time with us, their passion for learning and willingness to involve themselves in our day-to-day student life was a credit to each and every one of them.
The decision to develop this type of short-term course was a direct response to the international education market and I am extremely pleased with the inaugural success of this venture.
Many thanks must be given to the team of tutors and course coordinator, Mr Jonathan Cutting, who delivered an extensive course programme, as well as to the CTC community for making our visitors feel at home. We sincerely hope that this is just the beginning of a long-term relationship with the outstanding ULink group of schools in China.”
