Eighteen month A-Level
This intensive A-Level course enables students to achieve their full academic potential in just five terms but they will be fully expected to cope with the accelerated pace of teaching.
The 18-month programme is ideal if a student wants to improve their existing A-Level results or if they wish to take a second university degree that requires certification in subjects that they do not already possess. At CTC, we recommend that all our A-Level students only take three subjects and suggest that they take an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification, equivalent to half an A-Level) should they wish to extend their repertoire.
In class sizes of an average of six, CTC students are taught by expert tutors and experience a relaxed yet focused learning environment that helps prepare them for adult life beyond our doors. As a rule of thumb, students on the January Course study the AS (Year 1) syllabus of each subject between January and June, followed by the A2 (Year 2) in the final academic year. However, there will be some flexibility depending on the nature of each individual subject.
Please note that the public examinations are always sat in the final year but compulsory internal exams are taken by all students after their first year as a measure of progress and ability so we can gauge whether they can continue into the second year of study.
Each week throughout the 18-month course, students sit tests in all of their subjects to ensure that they and their parents/guardians are kept up-to-date on their academic progress. The results for these are posted on our online portal.
During their time at CTC, students work with a dedicated personal tutor, meeting weekly and receiving support in all academic and pastoral matters, including guidance through the UCAS process and help with university choices.
Please visit the individual subject areas for a detailed view on the specific courses we offer at CTC and do not hesitate to contact us to discuss any personal requirements or alternatively make an appointment to come in and see us.If students are interested in applying for Oxbridge, Medicine or Veterinary Sciences, CTC has a dedicated course where they can develop the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding of the application process, interview techniques and the various entry tests required.
