Welfare
The Welfare Department plays a vital role in all our students’ lives and contributes greatly to the day-to-day life of the College. Head of Student Welfare, Patricia Brown, has been with the College since 1986. In that time she has amassed a vast amount of knowledge on a range of pastoral and academic areas including child protection, education policies, visa matters and fully understands how important it is to be well supported in any new environment.
Staff in the welfare department are always available for any issues that students and parents may wish to discuss with them. Our students’ well-being is of the utmost importance to us and together with personal tutors the department helps to ensure that our students remain happy and well supported during their time with us.
As well as providing accommodation through our Homestay Programme the department’s responsibilities include
- Monitoring attendance and punctuality
- First Aid provision
- Monitoring visa compliance and assisting with visa applications
As soon as a student’s application to the College is accepted the department ensures their start to College life goes smoothly. The department can arrange for our overseas students to be collected from the airport and taken to their accommodation. During the first week of term the Welfare Department hosts a welcome meeting, and together with the Students’ Committee helps students become familiar with their new surroundings within the College and in the surrounding area.
Guardianship
Although students staying in accommodation provided by CTC are not required to have guardians, you may feel that the services of a guardian would be beneficial. Should that be the case, we are happy to recommend the following guardianship providers:
You may also wish to explore the website of AEGIS, which accredits guardianship providers.
